Hello, my name is Laura Sánchez Yeste. I’m 20 years old and I’m from Albacete.
I can truly say I’ve lived the full Erasmus experience — from spraining my ankle on the first day in Dublin to going out partying with people I didn’t even know.
My experience at Oxfam has been really good. Jill and Sara, the managers, are such lovely people and helped me a lot with my foot. In the shop, I’ve hung clothes, tagged items, and done some ironing — that phrase will stay with me for life, hahaha.
Also, because of my injury, they had me spend more time at the till, charging customers and chatting with them.
At first, it was harder for me to communicate in English at the shop, especially when talking to Jill and the customers. But after a month and a half here, I started to feel more confident with the language and was able to hold proper conversations.
I’m really grateful to the Erasmus team for giving me this amazing opportunity, because I’ve been able to meet wonderful people like Mariapi, Paula, and Steven. I feel like we’ve become a kind of family, and I know I’ll have them in my life forever.
We’ve done so many activities together, like visiting the Botanic Garden and the Cliffs of Moher…
Those trips really brought us closer.
So thank you very much, truly, for this wonderful opportunity.
